Performing live at the
BEAUTIFUL Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Casino is the exciting,
flawless and talented singer/entertainer/writer Barry Manilow. DO
NOT MISS HIS SHOW on your next trip to this wonderful city! This is
truly one of the BEST shows Las Vegas has to offer.
Barry
Manilow graces his stage at the Hilton without introduction to a
standing ovation. He received so many standing O’s throughout the
show that I found I was not in good enough shape to keep up! BUT I
DID! I WAS EXHAUSTED, BUT I DID! I MUST SAY, Barry looked as
FABULOUS as ever! He is adorable, charming and so darn likeable that
he captivates his audience within seconds. He immediately sets the
stage ablaze and the fire never fades out! With each ballad he
brought romance and with each up-tune he effortlessly infused
excitement! Manilow is ABSOLUTELY THRILLING, MESMORIZING AND
CAPTIVATING to experience in person! His performance was nothing
short of spectacular. What a FUN show this is to watch and be a part
of from beginning to end. The problem is you WON’T want it to end!
There is always something exciting going on. His music and style are
not only electrifying, original and creative but he manages to
bridge the age gap making this a stunning show for all ages! Barry
performs his favorite music from the ‘40s, ‘50s ‘60s and ‘70s. Don’t
worry, die-hard Barry fans, you won’t be left out, as he covers HIS
OWN hits that we all know and love, as well!
Manilow is one of the few artists who sound as
PERFECT and fantastic live as he does on his recordings. I CANNOT
tell you how rare that is today with all the studio technology that
enhances vocals and makes artists sound better than they really are!
He sings with such immense passion and ease. One of the reasons
Manilow might have stayed a music icon all these years is he keeps
his music fresh. He seems to actually live each lyric and story he
is singing at the moment.
The Barry Manilow show has several
sets and costume changes. I have to tell you, music lovers, even
though Barry HIMSELF makes fun of being the king of elevator music
and dental office music, this man truly IS a gifted singer who is
vocally PERFECT! In other words, he is EAR-CANDY! His lyrical timing
and phrasing is unbelievable. The only other singer who had this
rare gift was Sinatra! Later on in the show, one lucky lady in the
audience had the privilege and rare opportunity to dance with
Manilow on stage. (I hated her immediately!) AND this could be you!
For those of you who might have left the planet for a while,
the legendary, all-around showman Barry Manilow is an
internationally renowned superstar whose career spans from recording
and songwriting, to television, film and stage. Based on industry
charts, he is THE undisputed Number One Adult Contemporary Artist of
all time! His record sales (recorded over 30 albums) exceed 50
million worldwide. He has written hundreds of songs and performed
around the world, THRILLING millions of fans, picking up a Grammy,
an Emmy, Tony Award, not to mention the Songwriters Hall of Fame
(inducted in 2002) and, of course, an Oscar nomination along the
way!
Manilow totally dominated pop music during the latter
half of the '70s like few other performers. He had long series of
hit singles including 13 number one hits on the adult contemporary
charts.
Barry Manilow was born (Barry Alan Pincus) on June
17, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Edna and Harold Pincus
were of Russian-Jewish descent. His father left the family when
Barry was two, and he eventually adopted his mother's maiden name of
Manilow. Barry's roots will forever be a part of Brooklyn! He grew
up in its low-income Williamsburg section where music was ALWAYS a
part of his life. By the age of seven, he was a budding musician,
taking accordion lessons and playing on a neighbor's piano. When he
decided to make music his career, he went to the New York College of
Music and was accepted to the prestigious Julliard School of Music.
All the while he worked in the mailroom at CBS to pay expenses. He
also supported himself for the next few years by writing, producing,
and performing advertising jingles (including high-profile campaigns
for State Farm, Dr. Pepper, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and
more).
Then, in 1971, Barry met Bette Midler and became her
music director, arranger and pianist. He co-produced and created
arrangements for her first Grammy Award-winning album, "The Divine
Miss M.” In addition he served as her accompanist on her legendary
pre-fame tour of New York City's gay bathhouses, masterminded her
first two albums.
Barry Manilow began his own first solo
tour in 1974 and the release of "Mandy" started an unprecedented
string of 25 consecutive Top 40 hits, including "Even Now," "This
One's for You," "Weekend in New England," "I Write the Songs" and
"Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again." Four year’s later five of Barry's
albums were on the charts at the same time. The only artists in
history to do this were Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis. Some other
familiar Manilow hits include “Somewhere in the Night,” “Looks Like
We Made It,” “Daybreak,” “Could It Be Magic,” “Copacabana,” “Can’t
Smile Without You,” and “I Made It Through the Rain.”
Barry
has consistently been one of the most successful touring artists in
the music industry. Don’t miss out on the chance of a life time to
see him live at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel & Casino and
experience what fans all over the world have been lucky enough to
do. The one thing for sure that you will know at the end of his
brilliant concert is how grateful we should all be to Barry Manilow
for all the beautiful music he has given to us over the years and
will continue to bring! Without sounding too corny, Barry Manilow is
not just a STAR, he is a musical UNIVERSE! Run to the FABULOUS Las
Vegas Hilton Hotel and see the man who “writes the songs that make
the whole world sing!”
