Be a Part of It…New York, New York - Take a Tour of the Very Best, Most Unique, Exciting Places in the Big Apple
 by Robin Roth

Your plane lands in the city that never sleeps, you hop into a famous yellow cab, and THEN you feel the excitement the minute you step into the Marriott Marquis Hotel. You know at once… YOU ARE IN MANHATTAN!

In THE GRAND city of New York, there are so many places you can stay. Let me introduce you to one of the best hotels in which I have had the pleasure of staying. The New York Marriott Marquis is fantastic and for SO many reasons.

To begin with, you know the Blonde loves her Starbucks and there are two, yes readers I said two, right in the hotel. I was a VERY happy Blonde! That said, we can now move on….

The Marriott Marquis is located right in the heart of Times Squareand Broadway’s exciting theater district. You will be in the perfect location and close to everything (that includes shopping, ladies)! It doesn’t get better than that! New York City is at your fingertips! This landmark 49-story hotel is the largest Marriott in the world and was designed by John Portman. It has amazing architectural interest including a 37-story atrium with 12 glass enclosed elevators which are state of the art. All of the 1,946 guest rooms are not only lovely and spacious, but comfortably appointed. I HAVE to take a moment to brag about the inviting beds at this hotel (as well as all of the New York Marriott hotels). Have you ever flown in an airplane, looked out the window at the enormous, white, puffy clouds and just thought, how wonderful it would feel to simply lye down on them? THAT is EXACTLY what it feels like, in reality, to sleep on the Marriott Marquis beds! It was so comfortable and cozy, from the perfect mattress right down to the brand new duvet comforter and the many freshly puffed, soft, white pillows. It truly was the best night sleep I have had in a very long time! When you wake up in the morning, you will find a USA Today Newspaper waiting for you right outside your door! Furthermore, when you make your reservation, ask for a view of Times Square. It is an amazing sight that you shouldn’t miss and many of the rooms offer this spectacular view.

For those of you exercise nuts out there who wouldn’t think of missing a singe day, you will be in workout heaven. Their new fitness center is not only FREE but open 24 HOURS A DAY! 24 HOURS a day! You will enjoy a great workout in this 4,000 square foot space that provides state of the art equipment AND a view. How cool and unusual is that?!

Whether you are on business, in the city to have some fun, or on a New York get-away vacation, you will be provided with a complete range of amenities and services. I suggest that you go for the full experience and stay on the concierge floor. You are guaranteed to be spoiled with wonderful treats in its clubroom as well as in your room.

Feeling hungry? There are several restaurants in the hotel such as Katen (sushi bar), the Encore Restaurant (for all-day dining) and The View. After a full day of fun or business, go ahead and stop at the dramatic Atrium Lounge for classic cocktails or step into the Broadway Lounge and enjoy your drink while you overlook the lights of Broadway.

If you can’t be in your own home, this is the next best thing, and perhaps even better! Go, treat yourself and stay at the Marriott Marquis and enjoy every single NEW YORK SECOND!

The Marriott has several other hotels in the city from which to choose. For reservations, simply visit www.marriott.com or call 800-2289290. GO, AND BE A PART OF IT!

 The View Restaurant

The View offers a quintessential New York experience from one of Manhattan’s highest points. Make this restaurant your first stop when you land in the city, especially if you stay at the Marriott Marquis (and I advise that you do)! DON’T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE, as this is a real hot spot.

This world-renowned restaurant is a big treat, for not only is it beautiful, but it offers its guests fabulous food, great service, and the most spectacular view of Manhattan. The View is truly romantic if you are with that someone special. It is also a great spot to dine in because it will most assuredly impress your business guests!

This is New York’s only revolving rooftop restaurant. The signature revolving floor provides diners with a 360 degree turn every 58 minutes. In this one-of-a-kind restaurant you will enjoy the thrill of seeing the whole city AND its famous twinkling lights while you dine. How cool is that?

The View is led by an all-star team including chef de cuisine Fabian Ludwig, master mixologist Dale DeGroff, and consulting wine expert Kevin Zraly. Almost everything at The View has been updated including the two express elevators that transport guests directly form the third floor to the restaurant. The View presents a regular menu as well as a two-course pre-theater menu. On Sundays, catch the spectacular feast on The View’s brunch buffet which includes an extensive selection of hot and cold dishes, made-to-order omelets, freshly baked pastries, and seasonal fruits and cheeses. It is awesome! My mouth is watering just remembering it! Ladies there is a chocolate fountain with ready-to-dip berries, pretzel sticks, and marshmallows as well as other decadent desserts. Don’t worry—the hotel’s gym is open 24/7 to work off this, ‘to die for brunch.’

Here are a few tips and suggestions for dinner. My lovely waitress Joyeve Paiffy and waiter David Wilkins helped guide me through the creative menu selections. To start, you have to order the divine, huge, fresh shrimp cocktail with three sauces that I recommend you mix together. Next definitely try the Caesar Salad. Although it is not tossed at your table, it is well done and yummy! For your entrée, you simply cannot go wrong with the porcini-dusted Filet Mignon that is exquisitely prepared. The Rack of Lamb is elegant, delicious, and pretty as a picture! If you are a Duck or Osso Bucco lover, you have come to the right place! They are prepared to perfection. I also suggest the Broccoli Rabe. The View New York Tasting Menu is amazing as well and I highly recommend it. For dessert, try the Ice Cream and Sorbet Palette selections. They are WONDERFUL and adorable, as they are served in tiny homemade chocolate dipped cones. The Chocolate Lava Cake is amazing as well. Oh what the heck, order the whole dessert menu!

Whether you stay at the Marriott Hotel or not, don’t miss this complete dining experience!!!! YOU WILL THANK ME! ENJOY!
