Tired from a long journey to Barcelona, I was delighted walking into The Omm Hotel. This inviting, warm, spacious, and luxurious boutique hotel is the creation of Grupo Tragaluz. Its original decor is filled with a unique sleek character, a futuristic feel, clean lines, and urban trends of the city itself. I knew immediately that this was the place to be seen and the place to not be seen when I needed my privacy.

Perfectly located right in the heart of this exciting city, the ultra modern, chic, multi-award winning Omm Hotel screams “Welcome to Barcelona”. Here, I felt tuned in to what was happening in the town. Being situated on Paseo De Gracia, the city center, I found that I was within walking distance to almost everything I wanted to see. From the moment I arrived, I was quite impressed by the high quality of friendly service, attention to detail, and interest in my every need.

The hotel faces the metropolis with a spectacular facade presented as a work of art that is made of a sheet of gorgeous Cabra marble. The hotel is full of original and creative details which make all its architecture, interior design, and features very distinctive. Inside, the area to the left is furnished with sofas and rugs in a mosaic of soft, warm, elegant colors of gray, violet, green, and brown, contrasted with black leather poufs and tables, luminous cubes and lamps. The oblique wall closes off two spaces around a natural gas fireplace. The flames appear to float on a base of white stones, creating a marvelous impression of both simplicity and comfort.

The ambience of the Omm is truly the main attraction. With its contemporary luxury in a cosmopolitan setting and colorful designs, the lobby is, without a doubt, the perfect place to settle down, relax, and have a snack, a drink, or coffee after a long day in the city. Here is where I stopped for a wonderful stress-free pace on cozy plush couches enjoying a breath of Barcelona and the vibrancy of the city from inside.

HOTEL ROOMS: To get to my room after leaving the elevator, I went through a very cool, futuristic low lit hallway.

The hotel has 91 sophisticated rooms available, consisting of 8 suites, 9 junior suites, 16 superior rooms and 58 standard rooms. As in all the rooms I saw, I entered the wide-open space bedroom bathed in natural light. The bedroom and bathroom are separated by a wardrobe made of lacquered aluminum, while the bathroom and bidet are discreetly tucked away inside. The 32 new suites are more irregularly distributed and are all different as the furniture is similarly varied from room to room. However, the rooms are all simple and practical. Each room has a TV and a mini-bar, a music system and an Internet connection.

The rooms that I saw were not only sharp and lovely, but fresh, alluring, crisp, well lit and glowed with imaginatively enhanced comfort. The bathrooms are sensational and particularly opulent as well. The rooms come with all the lavish amenities you will need. The rooms and suites are all different, each with its own unique design. Furthermore, the rooms boast spectacular views of Paseo de Gracia, a terrace with swimming pool, or views of Gaudí’s Casa Milá.

I was greeted in a multipurpose lobby that leads to the famous Moo Restaurant.  The award winning chef has created some out-of-this-world, original creations. His culinary offerings are thought of as a gastronomic play on exquisite recipes. The restaurant offers meticulously selected signature wines consisting of over 500 wines to choose from. It seems to me that the restaurant, like the hotel, provides a new concept that breaks with the traditional image of, 'the gourmet restaurant', that is formal and pretentious. This restaurant rather leans towards the comfortable, sophisticated and relaxed approach.

The indoor organic garden of the hotel provides different types of lettuces, tomatoes, pumpkins, ornamental plants and aromatic herbs, and these are just some of the vegetables that Chef Felip Llufriu serves in his restaurant.

I found that this restaurant encompasses everything Barcelona has to offer and a must for those who believe that the highest quality foods bring out all five senses.

Then there is the MooVida Restaurant, which offers a lighter fare of scrumptious casual foods where breakfast and lunch buffets are served. I also enjoyed a light lunch and dinner here. I found the food to be healthy, creatively prepared, with interesting combinations of tastes and textures.

The cocktail bar Moodern Bar is a busy meeting place for locals and guests alike.

For fun, time out, pleasure, and relaxation at night, the hotel celebrates the cities popular Ommsession club with a DJ and live music.

The Spaciomm: Is a stylish center of relaxation and personal care offering a huge array of lavish, expert, healing services. I found out first hand that the interior architecture of the spa with its use of natural materials (such as wood, stone, iron, coconut matting, linen silk and soft lighting) reflects the intimate spirit of the treatments and services that the spa offers. The aromas and low music created a quiet peaceful ambiance of well being which enhanced my indulgence in a few of the blissful therapies offered. Leaving the spa I felt revitalized, relaxed, and rejuvenated.

Pool: My favorite part of the hotel, however, was the fabulous pool terrace on the roof of the hotel overlooking the city of Barcelona. I felt as though I was in a movie set. This area is quite an awesome place to experience the sunshine and a cocktail. The swimming pool is elongated and there is plenty of seating to sunbathe. I was surprised by the unexpected a view of Gaudí’s La Pedrera, with its chimneys and skylights. Quite awesome!

I found the hairdressing salon was amazing, and judging by the comments of the locals, is one of the best in Barcelona. The expert team of stylists and beauticians offer hairdressing, make-up, manicures and pedicures.

The gym was unique as well and staffed by specialists in Pilate's, using various different techniques: ballet, Swedish gym and yoga. The equipment consists of passive gym machines, static bikes and running tracks.

Mon Key Club is the hotel’s very trendy live-music night club and is open to the public. It has a fully-equipped stage, screens and spectacular lighting technology. The club schedules a very diverse program of live performances which have put the club high on the Barcelona scene listings. Here, is where I had a blast surrounded by beautiful locals which I know will be a forever fond memory.
